Welcome to Make Films Not Movies.

When I started this blog over at Blogspot, I had lofty ideals about reviewing great works of cinema and deriding Hollywood for the dross it pumps out. But you know what, I have to say that there aren’t too many bad films when it comes down to it. Sure, some films make you want to claw your eyes out (*cough* Batman & Robin *cough*) and they turn the academic part of your brain to a translucent goo, but those are in a true minority. What’s that cliche about fishing/golf? The worst day at the cinema is better than the best day at work.

So now that I’ve moved MFNM over to WordPress, it’s going to be a little different than I imagined. This blog is a place to write with passion about any film that makes an impact, whether it’s a blockbuster 3D extravaganza or an 8mm short watched in a dingy bar. Film is to be enjoyed in whatever way you can enjoy it. When there’s no level on which you can connect with it, it’s not film – it’s Glitter.
